At the Auto Expo 2016, by unveiling new products, technologies and innovations, Maruti Suzuki shared its’s direction for the future.

Maruti Suzuki unveiled its innovative, distinct and passionate creations that drive the most revolutionary cars in India. The core of these products being vehicle platform, the company showcased a new innovative Suzuki platform for the future. A lighter but also stronger than conventional platforms, it will enable Maruti Suzuki vehicles to balance safety, fuel efficiency and driving performance at the higher level. Through innovations like these, Maruti Suzuki wants to balance the needs of the customer with those of society.  

In products, the company unveiled the Concept Ignis for India. The car was launched in Japan last month and will be customised according to Indian consumers. Concept Ignis will be a smart urban vehicle for the fast maturing compact car customers of India. 

Another major highlight of Maruti Suzuki at the Auto Expo 2016 is the Concept Baleno RS. Baleno has received a resounding welcome in India. Concept Baleno RS demonstrates how it is possible to load even more excitement and performance on India’s world car.

The new Maruti Suzuki Baleno launching today will be the first Indian car manufacturer to use Apple CarPlay as its entertainment, communication and navigation system of choice. Built to deliver a more seamless experience for iPhone users when driving, Apple CarPlay extends the iPhone’s interface to the car’s multimedia screen, enabling easier access to features like the phone’s call list, music library and Apple’s voice assistant Siri.

The CarPlay system utilizes all three forms of car-driver interface: voice-based instructions via a dedicated steering-mounted button, touchscreen access to the various features, and specific buttons in the car that enable direct access to key Apple CarPlay’s features.

Using Siri’s voice-based access, the driver can use voice commands to make calls, review and return missed calls and listen to voicemails. As is with Siri on the iPhone, these voice-based instructions can be used to perform more involved actions like having Siri reply to text messages and even read out text messages.

On the music front, the driver can access all of their iPhone’s music seamlessly and control playback via the interface. The system is also able to run other music playback apps that are installed on the iPhone (such as streaming Internet radio apps,) replicating them to the car’s touchscreen. The system also supports audio apps such as podcasts and audiobooks, enabling the car’s occupants to access a wider range of audio content.

While Apple CarPlay is obviously designed with iPhone users in mind, the system will also work with other smartphone platforms like Android and Windows, albeit minus the added iOS-specific functionality.

The production models of these concepts, Ignis and Baleno RS, will be launched in India in the festive season this year. Both these models will be part of Maruti Suzuki’s new sales channel, Nexa. Through Nexa, the company plans to set out to appeal to a new generation of customers, who value pampering, innovation and a personal touch in their car buying experience. Maruti Suzuki wants to fully satisfy the expectations of these customers, and redefine the automotive retail experience in India. 

The company also launched exclusive Nexa accessories and services for ‘My Nexa’ privilege card holders - Valet Parking & Nexa Concierge. 

MY Nexa mobile Application, available on Google Play, Windows & Apple store, was also introduced to give an exclusive automotive experience to the niche set of customers.
